TYARD CASTLE

It doesn't matter what you're looking for when you come to Château Pontus de Tyard: an encounter with history, heritage, a great Renaissance man, nature... and even if you're not looking for anything in particular, because this château will meet all your expectations and more! On the heights of Bissy-sur-Fley, this castle is revealed as you climb a small road towards the parking lot. Just a few steps and you'll have an astonishing feeling of freedom as you enter the château's courtyard. It's here, in the courtyard and in the converted "outbuildings", that numerous events take place (see our agenda) organized by the Renaissance du château Pontus de Tyard association, which has been restoring the château for the past 20 years. The château is classified as a historic monument, but also as a Vignobles et Découvertes (for its vineyard conservation) and a Maisons des Illustres, since it was the birthplace in 1521 of a great Renaissance man: Pontus de Tyard (see our box). In this family château, a veritable fortified house, you'll discover four large restored rooms with imposing fireplaces, a medieval staircase, a seigniorial chapel... and latrines. Another wonderful discovery is the recently restored wall paintings with floral motifs. Last but not least, an augmented reality tour. Using tablets, you can see on screen the rooms of the château as they were in the ^16th century. The library in particular, with its 1,500 books, was one of the most important of its time. A visit that naturally continues outside, with the conservatory vineyards and orchard, the poetic garden, a stroll in the Garenne, a RandoCroquis, a walk in the footsteps of Pontus...
