Travel Guide Mawlynnong

A small village of 500 souls located on the border with Bangladesh, 90 km from Shillong. Mawlynnong is known throughout the country for its cleanliness and attracts many local tourists, often combined with a visit to nearby Dawki. There are a few restaurants as well as homestays for those who wish to extend their adventure. From the top of the village, perched on a handcrafted bamboo observatory, one can see the plains of Bangladesh. Nearby, one can see a beautiful specimen of Living Roots Bridge, a bridge made naturally by the locals with roots of rubber trees (ficus elastica).
