Dawki marks the border between India and the town of Tamabil in Bangladesh. Located 70 km from Shillong, it can be reached by collective cab from Barabazar. A large suspension bridge, built by the British in 1932, rises over the Umngot River. Visitors come here to enjoy this beautiful place and to paddle the green and totally transparent waters of the river in the heart of the valley. From a distance, it looks like the boats are floating in the air! The current is not very strong, so you can also swim in it. Don't miss the beautiful waterfalls on the way to Mawlynnong.
