AGNIGARH
A park on a hill, a site of Hindu mythology overlooking the river, ideal for a stroll at the end of the day.
A lovely park set on a hill that is also a site of Hindu mythology. Agnigarh means fire fort in Hindi. This is where Banasura had its fortress. It was surrounded by a fire that burned constantly, to limit entry and exit. It was here that Usha summoned Aniruddha, Krishna's grandson. Today, there is no fire, except that of the sun setting over the Brahmaputra. The hill offers a beautiful view of the river, and many of Tezpur's inhabitants come here for a stroll at the end of the day.
