GRENDELPOORT

Historical gate of the city, it dates from 1335. It has been a historical monument since 1967 and was recently completely renovated. As much as the Geulpoort is a reconstruction that looks a bit too clean to some, this one is unanimously approved because its historical character cannot be questioned. It is made of marl and wood. Its origin probably dates back to 1335, when the gate was called Bergerpoort or Trichterpoort. This monument has been the scene of accidents over the years. The recent renovation allowed the towers to be replaced.
