Located on the left bank of the Vistula, between Toruń and Włocławek, the small town of Ciechocinek (population 10,000) is one of the country's major spa resorts. Its fame dates back to the first half of the 19th century, when a large saltworks was built here, along with graduation buildings that later became industrial salt production facilities. The creation of the spa began in 1836, and it grew steadily from then on. Ciechocinek attracts holidaymakers not only because of its reputation as a health resort, but also because of its picturesque location and pleasant surroundings.
