PLAÇA CATALUNYA (PLAÇA MAJOR)

Centuries ago, Plaça Major was the main access point to the village from the road that led to Tortosa. At that time, the town was completely fortified and a large water reservoir - used by the inhabitants as a drinking trough - was once located there. It was later removed for reasons of hygiene before the construction of the current Plaça Catalunya began in 1803. Today it is the place where people meet in Batea.
