CHURCH OF SANT JOAN BAPTISTA

The parish church of El Catllar, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is undoubtedly the most emblematic building in the city, with its classical baroque style, and in its time was of fundamental importance in the province of Tarragona. Although designed by the architects Joan Antoni Rovira i Fraga and Josep Prat i Delorta, it was under the direction of the architect Josep Carafí that its construction, on the remains of a Romanesque church, began in 1776. It was consecrated in 1790.
