The main reason to visit El Catllar, a small town of 4,300 inhabitants (2018 census), located on a small hill about 60 meters high, overlooking the Gayá River, is to see the medieval castle (at least its two towers, the only remains of the former possession of the Counts of Santa Coloma), the beautiful parish church, and also, more simply, to stroll through its old streets lined with remarkable houses dating from the sixteenth and eighteenth-nineteenth centuries. There is also a very good golf course.
