This large modern space is part of the network of places of memory in Catalonia.
Opened in 2007, this large, modern space is both a museum and a center for historical research and educational dissemination on the exile of the Spanish Civil War and, more broadly, on all forms of exile. It houses a permanent exhibition based on five themes: exile in general, the issues of defeat and retreat, the diaspora, the experience and legacy of exile. All of this is covered by audiovisual resources, including interviews with testimonies and photos, as well as numerous original documents (correspondence, luggage, objects produced, etc.) and large explanatory panels. It is part of the network of places of memory in Catalonia.

The Mume - Museu Memorial de l'Exili is a museum located at the border crossing point through which hundreds of thousands of Spanish and Catalan exiles fled Franco's dictatorship, at La Jonquera. Here you'll discover permanent and temporary exhibitions. The latter reflect the memory of Republican exile during the Spanish Civil War, and exile in general. Topics include war, defeat and retreat, diaspora, the legacy of exile, and more. The Fond Josep Narro, a renowned illustrator of the 1930s, is particularly striking.
