LA COVA D'EN DAINA
A megalithic complex of impressive dimensions to discover in the surroundings of Romanyà de la Selva
On the outskirts of Romanyà de la Selva, in the middle of a large pine and cork oak forest, lies a megalithic complex of impressive dimensions. It is protected by an outer ring of granite stones, 11 metres in diameter. The dolmen is 1.5 metres high, 7.6 metres long and 1.7 metres wide. Built between 2,700 and 2,200 BC, this megalithic burial site was discovered in the early 20th century. Excavations in 1957 unearthed numerous bones, teeth, flint points, knife fragments, ceramic remains and jewelry. It was declared a national monument in 1931.
