MONASTERY OF SANTA MARIA DE JONQUERES
The church of Santa Magdalena has a single nave with apse.
Although documents attest to the existence of the town of Jonqueres since 978, no mention is made of its monastery before 1229. It would appear that it depended on the origin of the Cistercian Monastery of Santa Maria de Vallbona, in Roussillon. There are two altars, one dedicated to Santa Maria and the other to Santa Magdalena. In the th century, due to the Catalan civil war, the monastery church was fortified.
The church of Santa Magdalena has a single apse nave. The most remarkable element is certainly the window of the main facade, with its side columns surmounted by decorated capitals, as well as a side door, now condemned, which had to communicate with the monastic cloister. Construction of the building seems to have started around the th century, while the window appears dating from the late th or early th centuries.
