Discover this ancient Romanesque castle which was originally a simple defense tower

This ancient Romanesque castle was certainly originally a simple defensive tower, modified over time until it became a true residence, dependent on the Barony of Mataplana. It was, among other things, the home of the famous Count Arnau, a mythical figure of the region's ruthless feudalism. There is also the church of Sant Joan de Mataplana, a former castle chapel dating from the 11th-12th centuries, and some remains of dwellings.
