While Greenville, to the south, is the main gateway to the lake, Rockwood on Moosehead is another village on its shores. Needless to say, you will be there in peace and quiet, with its 300 inhabitants! Located on the west shore of the lake, 20 miles from Greenville, Rockwood has motels and hotels, as well as several shops providing sports equipment. Canoe and snowshoe rentals are legion. Along Rockwood Road and Lake Street, which runs along the lake, you will find the greatest number of restaurants, shops and homes. From this village, you will also have a breathtaking view of Mount Kineo and can take a boat trip to the mountain.
