AGRA-PARK
Both a landscaped complex and an exhibition area covering more than 50 hectares, the Agra-Park, together with the artificial lakes, is one of the most popular places for visitors to Markkleeberg. It is divided into two very distinct areas which are separated by the B2 road, a major axis of the southern entrance to Leipzig.
The western part, on the banks of the Pleisse, is a very pretty landscaped park built in the 1880s. Imbued with romanticism, a spot that is popular for photos of newlyweds, it has a pond populated by ducks, statues, wooded squares, meadows, as well as a neoclassical villa, the Weisses Haus, in other words the white house.
The eastern part, on the other side of the B2 road, is a Messegelände, an exhibition space dating from the GDR, an area of 100 hectares that originally hosted the large East German landscaping fair. Today, it is famous for its flea markets, and for some events such as the Wave-Gothic-Festival, which is partly held there
