The region of Boca San Carlos is located at the mouth of the San Carlos River and only a few kilometers from the San Juan River, which forms the border with Nicaragua. This is where the huge pineapple farms are located. It is not uncommon to see Nicaraguan schoolchildren making the trip every day to come to Costa Rica to study under better conditions. The area is accessed by makeshift trails and boats for bird and reptile watching. The lodges are located after San Rita. You can also practice kayaking and horseback riding, go boating or simply hike to discover the flora and fauna.
