Small town east of Mirebalais, where the Central Square is very lively, crowded with all the colored bikes and decorated with various gadgets. Surrounded by high mountains, but low, and bathed by very fertile irrigated plains, the city owes its dynamism to its geographical position, halfway between Mirebalais, the economic heart of Bas-plateau, and Belladère, a small village on the border with Santo Domingo, which is, together with its Dominican counterpart (Elias Pinas) the third gateway between the two countries. The people in the area sometimes block the road to the border, according to their many claims. The last concerns the arrival of the current from Mirebalais to Lascahobas (Belladere already has its own small Iron Cross hydroelectric power station). They were succeeded by President Martelly himself. You can enjoy the recent work of HRE (Electricité d'Haïti) along the road. Lascahobas is also the birthplace of the Coopérative d'epargne et de Credit de Las Cahobas (Coopeclas), a success story local story became one of the largest institutions in the sector, with up to 25 000 members. Its imposing seat, worthy of a banking branch of the capital, is one of the city's main buildings.
