Cabo Pulmo is a small village of about 250 inhabitants, but it is above all a marine nature reserve that shelters one of the northernmost coral reefs in the world. For more than twenty years, its inhabitants have gradually abandoned the traditional commercial fishing activity to replace it with the promotion of a tourism respectful of marine species. The result is more than encouraging since many species have returned to populate the reef: they are constantly increasing, including the turtle population which is the object of particular attention from the community. The Cabo Pulmo reef has been considered a national park since 1995 and a natural heritage of humanity since 2005. But it seems that these recognitions do not curb the appetite of speculators. United in an association and supported by numerous NGOs, the inhabitants have so far succeeded in stopping mass tourism mega-projects, successively American, Spanish and Chinese. Cabo Pulmo is a little village that still resists to the invader... On the spot, in addition to diving and snorkeling, you can also go hiking with the help of local guides.
