Cordova is a nice fishing port that has not lost its authenticity. This may be because it is not the easiest town to get to (by plane or by ferry only, via Valdez or Whittier). Cordova's charm lies mainly in its friendly population, almost all in rubber boots and fisherman's clothing, and its coastal setting framed by mountains. The Cordova Museum, which explains the history of the town, the Ilanka Cultural Center about the indigenous communities of the region and the small port are all worth seeing. Several hikes in the area: Heney Ridge Trail, Crater Lake & Power Creek Trails and the Sheridan Mountain Trail.
