This church, among the largest, could receive 5,000 pilgrims.
Notre-Dame-de-La-Charité-sur-Loire is the largest church in Burgundy after that of Cluny, and could receive 5,000 pilgrims. The chevet alone is a masterpiece : the decoration of the choir is strikingly beautiful with the capitals decorated with animals and plants, as well as the spandrels of the large arcades where a fabulous bestiary appears. The Gothic portal of the church is today a must in the "photo postcard" of the city of the Loire.

Belle découverte
Joli site en cours de restauration. C'était la plus grande église de France après Cluny. Malgré quelques maisons ( dont l'office du tourisme très laid ) incluses dans les ruines, quel scandale !, l'ensemble a été assez bien sauvegardé - mieux que Cluny -. Les restes d'une ancienne église ont été découvertes sur le site . méritera une nouvelle visite d'ici un an ou deux !

Très beau site Clunisien en cours de restauration. Les travaux déjà entrepris rendent sa magnificence au site.
