The Hofmann Tower is one of the most impressive historic sites in suburban Chicago. This eight-story concrete castle-like structure was built in 1908 by George Hofmann, Jr. The tower was the centerpiece of a large recreation area that included boat rides, picnic and dance areas, and a large outdoor café. For years, the Hofmann Tower was the tallest building west of the Chicago Loop with an unobstructed view of Chicago and its surroundings.
