EL MORRO NATIONAL MONUMENT
This national park highlights the remains of an ancient great pre-Columbian pueblo
This National Monument highlights the remains of an ancient large pre-Columbian pueblo. Between about 1275 and 1350 CE, nearly 1,500 people of the Pueblo culture lived atop this large sandstone promontory(morro in Spanish). With a water source at its base, El Morro was like an oasis. It was therefore used as a stopover for many travelers through the arid and desolate region. A hiking trail allows you to see the main sites of El Morro.
