A parish church dedicated to Saint Aré in Decize at the time of his death, with a choir - the only Romanesque feature.
This 11th-century parish church (altered in the 17th and 19th centuries) is dedicated to Saint-Aré, bishop of Nevers from 548 to 558, who (at the time of his death) wished to be placed in a boat and buried where it would run aground. According to legend, the boat made its way up the river to Decize, where the saint is buried. The choir is the only surviving Romanesque feature. Below is the 7th-century crypt built in the saint's honor.
