Local maritime history is highlighted in this maritime museum, whose centerpiece is the HMAS Whyalla. This World War II corvette, the first to be built in the city's shipyards in 1941, has been restored and relocated 2 km out to sea, offering visitors the unique opportunity to walk under her hull before exploring her decks. The museum also houses one of Australia's largest model train layouts, with a layout of 226 meters, illustrating the region's railway past.
