Artificial lake to discover through easy hikes, like the one on the Barrier Lake Trail along it.
There are several beautiful hiking (or skiing in winter) opportunities around Barrier Lake, south of Kannaskis Village. The 16-kilometre trail via Quaite Creek Trail follows several waterfalls and leads you to the summit where you can overlook Barrier Lake and the Kananaskis Country Valley. Barrier Lake Trail is a 6.5 kilometre trail along the lake. The best time for hiking in this area is between March and October. Hiking in the surrounding area is fairly easy and within everyone's reach.
