High Peaks are the 46 mountains of the Adirondack Range. The highest point in the park is Mount Marcy, which rises to 1,629 metres, followed by Algonquin Peak (1,559 m), Mount Haystack (1,510 m) and Mount Skylight (1,501 m). Those who managed to climb the 46 mountains gave themselves the nickname Forty-Sixers (46ers). Hiking trails bypass the mountains and others allow you to reach their summit. The Van Hoevenberg Trail is a 14-mile round trip trail that leads to the top of Mount Marcy. It takes between 6 and 10 hours of hiking depending on your physical condition.
