The Khanqah of shah-E Hamadan is a Sunni mosque of exceptional architecture. The first structure was erected in 1395, after which the mosque was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt; the current edifice dates from 1732. Built entirely of wood, its architecture bears witness to the influence of ancient Buddhist temples. It is accessible to Muslims only, but its papier-mâché interior can be admired from the entrance.
