Auxonne has a wooden needle dam. Built by engineer Poiré, this dam is 220 meters long. He was one of the last needle dams to operate in France. Managed by VNF, it was doubled by an automated pneumatic dam in 2011. The needle dam is now immersed but visible in summer when the flood is at the lowest. This new dam includes a fish and canoe pass, as well as a promontory from which you can admire Auxonne.
