Gent : Discover
The beautiful city of Flanders, birthplace of Charles V, boasts a rich historical past that is reflected in numerous museums and monuments, including the imposing Château des Comtes in its center. It's also extremely photogenic, both by day and by night, as the city's lighting makes it particularly attractive. But Ghent is no museum town. Its student community makes it a modern, multicultural city, even lively at weekends and during summer festivals. The pedestrian and shopping streets are always bustling, and in the evening, as the city's illuminations embellish it, restaurants and bars fill up with an eclectic crowd. Ghent also offers a rich cultural life, home to one of Europe's most renowned contemporary art museums (the SMAK), a wealth of street art and the STAM, the city's museum of history and technology. Special feature: it's eco-friendly and vegan-friendly.
