Located in Ghent, the Docteur Guislain Museum is a unique place dedicated to psychiatry, combining history and current affairs. Founded in 1986, it is both a place of memory and a laboratory. It is a place where experiments, investigations and verifications are carried out to shed light on the complexity of the human psyche, through testimonies, archives, art and photography. The museum plunges you into the evolution of psychiatric care and the treatment of mental disorders through time. The museum offers permanent and temporary exhibitions on a variety of themes, including mental health, culture and art brut. Among the current collection, you'll discover some of the old objects preserved in the Guislain hospital, which you can discover on open days. Take a look at the coercive methods used in men's hospices from the late 18th to the early 19th century. At the Musée du Docteur Guislain, you'll also enjoy a variety of workshops, lectures and events for all ages, focusing primarily on mental health issues. A place of learning and reflection worth visiting!

Je m'attendais à une impression de ce à quoi cela ressemblait à l'époque, mais hélas. A déconseiller si l'on s'attend à ce que l'endroit soit chargé d'histoire.
