The Goyet caves are among the largest in Europe and contain the most important Belgian prehistoric works of art
The Goyet caves, discovered in 1868 by a geologist from Dinant, are a fascinating experience. Forming an authentic prehistoric city, they are among the largest in Europe. The most important Belgian prehistoric works of art and the oldest dog skull in the world have been discovered here. This 90-hectare limestone massif, with at least seven caves, was home to Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon man during the last ice age. A good way to get an idea of the life of the mammoth hunters.
