Zimmer Tower housing the Centennial Clock, an astronomical studio on the floor, the clock mechanism and the pavilion on the floor.
The Zimmer Tower dates back to the 13th century, when it was part of the city's surrounding wall. Since 1930, it has housed the Centenary Clock (for Belgium's 100th anniversary). At noon, Belgian kings and mayors of Lierre in office between 1830 and 1930 appear. Every quarter of an hour, bells are rung by figurines. The1st floor houses an astronomy studio built by Louis Zimmer (1888-1970). The2nd floor houses the clock mechanism and the pavilion, another clock, the Merveilleuse admired by Einstein.
