Travel Guide Monforte De Lemos

Monforte de Lemos has 18,300 inhabitants. It is one of the most important towns in inland Galicia and preserves many old buildings and monuments. Its old town has been declared an asset of cultural interest. To see: its palace (13th c, modified in the 16th c.), which preserves parts of the ramparts, a keep and some emblazoned doors, the Benedictine monastery of San Vicente do Pino (10th c.), the convent of the Poor Clares and its museum of sacred art, as well as the college of the company, known as Nuestra Señora da Antigua or of the Cardenal (16th-17th c.), which is inspired by the Herrera style of the monastery of Escurial, near Madrid.
