A highly visible cave church with a colorful facade in pure Axumite style, offering a masterly view from above.

This cave church (hypogeum) in the cliffs can be spotted by its colorful facade. The view from the top is breathtaking. A door on the first façade opens onto a first room supported by two large pillars covered with recent paintings. Here, the façade of the church proper appears, in pure Axumite style, alternating layers of stone and wood, with "monkey head" motifs. The dark interior features elaborately carved pillars and lintels. The reverse of one shutter is decorated with a beautiful Virgin and Child.
