HOUTONG CAT VILLAGE

Located a few kilometers east of Riufang (less than ten minutes by car), Houtong is a pretty village along the Keelung River. Despite the absence of any major historical or cultural site, this village is attracting more and more visitors, especially on weekends. For a long time dependent on mining activity, Houtong today hosts a real colony of cats. Excellent hunters of rodents that swarmed in the tunnels of the mines, the cats remained despite the stop of the industry. There are several hundred of them wandering around.
