San José is one of the entry points to Western Mindoro, and home to the island's only airport. We pass through. Rarely more.Western Mindoro's tourist infrastructure is scarce, but some famous dive sites attract a few foreigners: around Ambulong Island and the Apo Reef. Apo Reef is considered one of the best dive sites in the country. It resembles an atoll, with two lagoons separated by a narrow inlet with a sandy bottom rich in tree coral. Apo Island has a shallow lagoon. This reef lies 36 km west of Mindoro.
