This former U.S. Army outpost was active from 1854 to 1864. Its role was to protect settlers from the Amerindians. Located between the San Emigdio and Tehachapi mountains, it is now a park open to the public. The grounds are home to restored old barracks, which can usually be circumnavigated in an hour.
