REYKIR MUSEUM
Museum to see fish skin shoes, a beautiful collection of canes and snuffboxes, whips with Argentinean handles
If you want to know all about shark fishing in Iceland, you've come to the right place! At the Reykir Regional Museum, located off Route 1 between Hvammstangi and Staðarskáli, you can see fish-skin shoes, a fine collection of rods and snuffboxes, bits, an old shark-fishing boat dating back to 1875... but above all chat with a passionate keeper who likes to share a coffee, chat, and even let you taste the famous pheasant shark (hákarl) if you're lucky. It's small, but informative and well done.
