About 40 km from Rakiraki, we reach the village of Naiserelagi where, in a small church, there is a painting dating from 1963, by the French artist Jean Charlot. This surprising work provokes all curiosity, because it represents a black-skinned Christ wearing a sulu (tribal skirt of men). A tanoa (bowl of kava) is placed at his feet. In the background, the tropical vegetation, where one can recognize the breadfruit trees, is rather unusual. A very original and unusual representation of Christ. On your way, you will follow the Wainibuka River for several kilometers and also the one nicknamed the Bananas Highways.
