Less popular, but just as wild and sublime as the Yasawas, a little further west, Nananu I Ra also has its share of mysticism, both in terms of its landscapes and the myths that accompany them. Nananu I Ra means "the land of western dreams". According to local legend, the place became the refuge of two unhappy lovers, condemned by their respective families not to live together. They settled on the island to make the most of their union. The 3.5 km² island is absolutely wild: there are no villages and no reinforced concrete on the ground. It is dotted with a few tourist resorts that keep it lively. Most of all, you'll appreciate the superb white-sand beaches, as well as the walks in the hills from which you have a lovely view of the coast, which is only 5 km away. Nananu I Ra is also a popular spot for windsurfing, as the weather conditions in winter (June to September) are extremely favorable.
