330 000 inhabitants. The very cosmopolitan university city of Leicester is located in the heart of the Mildands and owes its fame to Richard III, whose remains were found in 2012 and now has an attraction to its name. Partly destroyed by the Luftwaffe during World War II, it attracted a large amount of Indian and Pakistani workers in the second half of the th century, which brought its textile industry and helped to give it its current face. Side remains, don't miss the few still visible ruins of the original castle and the cathedral you can visit freely.
