KALDBAKUR

Leaving Þingeyri, Route 60 (not bitumen) crosses the mountains of Hrafnseyrarheiði, which offer many hiking possibilities. Above the Haukadalur "valley aux falcons", rises Mount Kaldbakur (998 m), culminating in the northwest peninsula. The rise has no major difficulty. The only danger is climate instability: as in the interior highlands, snowfalls can occur in the middle of summer. Panorama guaranteed from the top!
