A park famous for its wild bison, North America's largest land animal and considered an extinct species.
Caprock Canyon State Park is known for its protected wild bison. Indeed, bison live and roam among visitors in herds. The bison is the largest land animal in North America, and was considered an extinct species in the United States, eradicated by settlers in order to destroy the Native American communities that depended on the bison. Today, Caprock Canyon is the only place in Texas where you can see them.
