Canyon is a neighboring city to Amarillo, near Palo Duro Canyon. It is home to approximately 15,000 residents and is considered part of the Amarillo metropolitan area. It is home to West Texas A&M University and the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. The local attraction that we recommend seeing (especially for the photo) is a 14-meter high historical statue of a cowboy, built in 1959, standing next to US Route 60 in Canyon. The town itself can be walked through very quickly, with a main street running through the middle, where, as in other small towns of the kind, you can find shops.
