24 km northwest of Tsumeb, a body of turquoise water more than 100 m in diameter is hidden behind large fig trees and gigantic euphorbias. Lake Otjikoto reaches a depth ranging from 33 to 90 m. In 1915, German colonial troops buried some of their weapons and ammunition in this lake rather than leave it to the victorious South Africans and the country's leaders. Since then, the lake has provided divers with many wonders that are now on display at the Tsumeb Museum.Visit. Entrance to Lake Otjikoto is paying, at N$ 40, tickets can be collected at the entrance of the lake, open from sunrise to sunset (8am-5pm).
