50 km north of Udaipur, Haldighati is the site of a famous battle that pitted the army of the Mughal emperor Akbar led by Man Singh I of Amber against that of Mewar from 18 to 21 June 1576. The maharana Pratap of Udaipur participated in the battle, as well as his horse, which is still considered a true national hero. The site takes its name from a pass between the Aravalli. What remains of the fort has been transformed into a museum. The lack of information in English makes the visit rather uninteresting for those who do not speak Hindi. On the other hand, on the road, you can stop to buy rose water. The region is famous for its rose gardens.
