PANNA MEENA KUND (STEPWELL)
Square, stepped well with staircases on 3 sides and a small building for religious ceremonies on the 4th floor
This baori, or stepped well, is typical of the region. It is square in shape and has sets of steps on three of its sides. The fourth side is a small building that was probably used for religious ceremonies, before becoming a room where women could change after bathing in the well. The well goes down about 30 meters and is fed by the lake that lies above, between the mountains. It is forbidden to go down there.
