Holambra grew after the arrival of Dutch settlers in the late 1940 s. The rather picturesque city of less than 12 000 inhabitants is now the largest flower producer and exports all over the country (however, cultures are mainly in greenhouses). In September, the city hosts the Expoflora, the large flowers and interior design, which attracts the Paulistas en masse.
