Formerly known as the Conseil Général, the Conseil Départemental is the deliberative assembly that sits to improve the quality of life of the department's 530,000 inhabitants and make the Côte-d'Or a dynamic and attractive region. To achieve this, the Conseil Départemental has a wide range of responsibilities: schooling, including the management of secondary schools, solidarity with the elderly, preservation and revitalization of the region, sport, culture, housing, agriculture, employment, transport... You can travel by bike on the department's cycle routes and greenways, and even by barge on the Côte-d'Or's river routes (Saône, Canal de Bourgogne...)! The Conseil Départemental also has ambitions in terms of tourism... Successful ambitions such as the MuséoParc Alésia, which celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2017 and is still going strong. A word of advice to the people of Dijon? In spring, check out the Conseil Départemental's program... Its gardens are open for fun cultural events that are always a success! And throughout the Côte-d'Or, you'll find the Arts & Scènes festival. Last but not least, the Conseil Départemental is investing in projects to improve the lives of local residents, such as the program to roll out fiber optics throughout the département, and the introduction of a web-based sustainable development management platform for secondary schools.
