Cerro Arequita, located about 10 km north of the city of Minas along the Valeriano Magri road, is a volcanic hill that rises to a height of 234 meters. This unique place is very popular for hiking, climbing and camping, and offers a great wealth of wildlife and geology. The name "Arequita" comes from the Guarani language and means "stream of the high stone cave". The hill is covered by an indigenous forest typical of the region, where the island of Ombúes is located, populated by solitary trees. Visitors can also explore the Gruta Colón, one of the many caves in the area.
